THE SUOMI-NPP AND JPSS ALBEDO, BRDF AND NBAR PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED TO PROVIDE LONG-TERM CLIMATE-QUALITY CONTINUITY WITH THE MORE THAN TWO DECADES OF MODIS PRODUCTS PROVIDED BY THE TERRA AND AQUA MISSIONS. LAND SURFACE ALBEDO IS AN ESSENTIAL CLIMATE VARIABLE (ECV), REQUIRED BY CLIMATE, WEATHER, HYDROLOGIC, AND BIOGEOCHEMICAL MODELERS TO QUANTIFY THE REFLECTIVE CHARACTER OF LAND SURFACES, AND THUS ESTIMATE THE SURFACE RADIATIVE FORCING. LAND SURFACE ALBEDO VARIES WIDELY IN SPACE AND TIME, AND IS DEPENDENT ON THE LAND COVER, VEGETATION STRUCTURE, SEASONAL PHENOLOGY, VEGETATION CONDITION AND HEALTH, SNOW COVER, AND DISTURBANCE. THE VIIRS PRODUCTS, FROM THE SUOMI-NPP AND THE JPSS (CURRENTLY NOAA-20) MISSIONS, PROVIDE DAILY GRIDDED GLOBAL ESTIMATES OF THIS SURFACE VARIABILITY AS BOTH STANDARD PRODUCTS AND AS LANCE NRT PRODUCTS. IN COMPARISONS WITH TOWER ALBEDO DATA FROM SPATIALLY REPRESENTATIVE SITES, THEY HAVE BEEN SHOWN TO CAPTURE THE RAPID DAILY VARIATIONS IN ALBEDO CAUSED BY EPHEMERAL SNOWFALL AND MELT, SEASONAL PHENOLOGICAL CHANGES, AND DISTURBANCE. THE INTRINSIC SURFACE REFLECTANCE ANISOTROPY IS DETERMINED BY FITTING BIDIRECTIONAL REFLECTANCE DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION (BRDF) MODELS TO MULTI-ANGLE CLOUD-FREE SATELLITE REFLECTANCE OBSERVATIONS OF EACH GRID LOCATION. THESE BRDF ESTIMATES, ARE THEN INTEGRATED HEMISPHERICALLY OVER ALL VIEW AND ILLUMINATION GEOMETRIES TO GENERATE INTRINSIC WHITE SKY ALBEDO (BIHEMISPHERICAL REFLECTANCE) AND OVER ALL VIEW ANGLES AT A PARTICULAR SOLAR ZENITH ANGLE TO GENERATE BLACK SKY ALBEDO (DIRECTIONAL-HEMISPHERICAL REFLECTANCE AT LOCAL SOLAR NOON). THE BRDF QUANTITIES ARE ALSO USED TO CORRECT DIRECTIONAL SURFACE REFLECTANCES TO A COMMON VIEW ANGLE (E.G. THE NADIR BRDF-ADJUSTED SURFACE REFLECTANCES (NBAR) PRODUCT) AND TO ESTIMATE MEASURES OF SURFACE CANOPY CLUMPING AND STRUCTURE. THE STANDARD VIIRS VIEW-ANGLE-CORRECTED NBAR PRODUCT (PROVIDED AT LOCAL SOLAR NOON) ARE ALSO USED TO GENERATE DOWNSTREAM VIIRS PHENOLOGY PRODUCTS, AS WELL AS TO MONITOR THE CONDITION OF FORESTS, RANGE LANDS, AGRICULTURAL FIELDS, AND NATURAL ECOSYSTEMS, AND TO ASSESS THE IMPACT OF NATURAL AND MAN-MADE DISTURBANCES (HARVEST, DEVELOPMENT, FIRE, DROUGHT, FLOODING, STORM DAMAGE ETC.). IN FLOATING FORESTS, WE SEEK TO HARNESS TO POWER OF LANDSAT DATA AND CITIZEN SCIENCE TO UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHY GIANT KELP FORESTS HAVE CHANGED AROUND THE PLANET OVER THE PAST THIRTY YEARS. MOREOVER, WE HOPE TO USE OUR CITIZEN SCIENCE PROJECT AS A TEST CASE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A USER-FRIENDLY INTERFACE FOR THE CREATION OF ONLINE LANDSAT-BASED CITIZEN SCIENCE PROJECTS AT THE ZOONIVERSE (HTTP:// ZOONIVERSE.ORG). LAST, WE SEEK TO ENHANCE ENGAGEMENT FOR THIS AND FUTURE PROJECTS VIA THE DEVELOPMENT OF ACCESSIBLE VISUALIZATION TOOLS AND CURRICULA FOR UNIVERSITY AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. DURING THE PROTOTYPE PHASE WE COMPLETED A TOTAL OVERHAUL OF OUR LANDSAT IMAGE PROCESSING PIPELINE FOR CREATING IMAGERY FOR CITIZEN SCIENCE CLASSIFICATION. WE CONDUCTED A BETA AND COMPLETE RELAUNCH OF OUR PLATFORM AT HTTP://FLOATINGFORESTS.ORG, WHICH INCLUDED THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW SMARTPHONE APP. THIS HAS SEEN TENS OF THOUSANDS OF CLASSIFICATIONS AND OVER ONE THOUSAND UNIQUE USERS SINCE THE LAUNCH ON DECEMBER 13, 2017. WE DEVELOPED AND TESTED A UNIVERSITY LEVEL SET OF LAB EXERCISES WITH FLOATING FORESTS AT ITS CORE AT A PRIMARILY UNDERGRADUATE AND MINORITY SERVING INSTITUTION. WE MADE AVAILABLE ALL OF THE DATA FROM VERSION 1.0 OF OUR PLATFORM, WHICH CONSISTED OF ~750,000 CLASSIFICATIONS. LAST, WE USED THIS DATA TO VALIDATE OUR CITIZEN SCIENCE BASED APPROACH TO LANDSAT CLASSIFICATION, AND FOUND THAT OUR CONSENSUS BASED CLASSIFICATION APPROACH AGREED VERY WELL WITH EXPERT CLASSIFICATIONS. IN THE IMPLEMENTATION PHASE, WE WILL EXPAND FLOATING FORESTS TO MAP CHANGE IN GLOBAL KELP COVER FROM THE 1980S TO THE PRESENT. WE WILL IDENTIFY TRENDS IN GLOBAL KELP COVER, EXAMINE WHETHER KELP RANGE LIMITS HAVE SHIFTED, AND ASSESS THE DEGREE TO WHICH THESE SHIFTS ARE RELATED TO CLIMATE CHANGE. WE WILL BUILD AND DEPLOY A USER FRIENDLY GENERALIZED INTERFACE FOR CREATING A LANDSAT- BASED CITIZEN SCIENCE PROJECT AND DEMONSTRATE IT AT SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS TO FACILITATE ITS ADOPTION. WE WILL BUILD ADDITIONAL VISUALIZATION TOOLS FOR LANDSAT-BASED PROJECTS TO ALLOW CITIZEN SCIENTISTS TO QUICKLY AND EASILY WORK WITH OUR DATA. THIS PROPOSAL IS FOCUSED ON MAINTENANCE OF THE DAILY MODIS ALBEDO, NADIR REFLECTANCE AND SURFACE ANISOTROPY PRODUCTS (MCD43) PRODUCTS THROUGH TO THE END OF THE AQUA AND TERRA RECORDS. THESE MODIS PRODUCTS WERE BEGUN IN 2000 WITH TERRA OBSERVATIONS AND WERE REFINED WITH THE ADDITION OF AQUA OBSERVATIONS IN 2002 (LUCHT ET AL., 2000; SCHAAF ET AL., 2002; 2011; CESCATTI ET AL., 2012; WANG ET AL., 2014). AS THIS PRODUCT USES BOTH TERRA AND AQUA MODIS VALUES, THIS PROPOSAL IS BEING SENT TO BOTH THE TERRA AND AQUA PROJECT SCIENTISTS, AND CONTINUED MEMBERSHIP IN BOTH THE TERRA AND AQUA SCIENCE TEAMS IS REQUESTED. ALBEDO (THE REFLECTIVITY OF THE EARTH'S SURFACE WHICH GOVERNS THE SURFACE ENERGY BUDGET) IS AN ESSENTIAL CLIMATE VARIABLE (ECV), WHILE VIEW-ANGLE-CORRECTED NADIR REFLECTANCES ARE IN HIGH DEMAND FOR MONITORING VEGETATION PHENOLOGY, SNOW-MELT REGIMES, DISTURBANCE, AND LAND COVER CHANGE (ZHANG ET AL.,2006; ZHANG ET AL., 2016; LIANG ET AL., 2014; SHUAI ET AL., 2013; FRIEDL ET AL., 2010; GANGULY ET AL, 2010; GRAY ET AL., 2014; HUFKINS ET AL., 2012; SULLA-MENASHE ET AL., 2013; GRAY ET AL., 2014; STROEVE ET AL, 2013). THEREFORE THESE HIGH-QUALITY MODIS GLOBAL PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN ENTHUSIASTICALLY EMBRACED BY THE MODELING AND MONITORING COMMUNITIES OVER THE PAST 16 YEARS. HIGH QUALITY MODIS ALBEDOS ARE USED IN THE COUPLED MODEL LNTERCOMPARISON PROJECT (CMIP) TO IMPROVE THE UNDERSTANDING OF BIAS AND UNCERTAINTY BETWEEN MODELS (PARTICULARLY IN AREAS OF SNOW-COVERED VEGETATION), AND FURTHER USED TO REFINE THE SIMULATION OF ALBEDO IN LAND SURFACE MODELS (THACKERAY ET AL., 2015; WANG ET AL., 2016; KALA ET AL., 2014; MORCRETTE ET AL., 2008; LAWRENCE AND CHASE, 2009; HOULDCROFT ET AL., 2009; WANG ET AL., 2014) . THE TERRA+AQUA MCD43 PRODUCT RELIES ON MULTI-DAY, CLOUD-FREE, ATMOSPHERICALLY-CORRECTED SURFACE REFLECTANCES TO ESTABLISH A DAILY 500M GRIDDED REPRESENTATION OF THE SURFACE ANISOTROPY OF THE GLOBAL LAND SURFACE. THIS ANISOTROPY RETRIEVAL (AS DESCRIBED BY A SEMI-EMPIRICAL, KERNEL-DRIVEN BIDIRECTIONAL REFLECTANCE DISTRIBUTION (BRDF) MODEL) IS OPTIMIZED FOR SURFACE CONDITIONS ON A SINGLE DAY (THUS THE PRODUCT PROVIDES EITHER A SNOW RETRIEVAL OR A SNOW FREE RETRIEVAL DEPENDING ON THE CONDITIONS ON THE DAY OF INTEREST (WANG ET AL., 2014)). THIS ANISOTROPY MODEL IS THEN USED TO PROVIDE INTRINSIC DAILY MEASURES OF SURFACE ALBEDO AND VIEW-ANGLE CORRECTED NADIR SURFACE REFLECTANCES (NADIR BRDF-ADJUSTED SURFACE REFLECTANCE - NBAR). THE COLLECTION V006 OF THE MODIS MCD43 PRODUCT (AVAILABLE FROM THE LPDAAC AT EDC) OFFERS DAILY RETRIEVALS OF THE BRDF MODEL PARAMETERS, FROM WHICH THE NBAR FOR THE FIRST SEVEN MODIS LAND BANDS, THE BLACK-SKY ALBEDO (DIRECTIONAL HEMISPHERICAL ALBEDO AT LOCAL SOLAR NOON), AND THE FULLY DIFFUSE WHITE-SKY ALBEDO (BIHEMISPHERICAL ALBEDO UNDER ISOTROPIC ILLUMINATION) FOR THE FIRST SEVEN MODIS BANDS AND THREE DERIVED BROADBANDS (0.3-0.7 M, 0.7-5.0 M AND 0 .3-5.0 M AND WHITE-SKY ALBEDO) ARE GENERATED. USERS CAN MAKE USE OF THE BRDF PARAMETERS THEMSELVES TO PRODUCE NBAR AND BLACK-SKY ALBEDO VALUES AT OTHER DESIRED SOLAR ZENITH ANGLES AND FURTHERMORE CAN COUPLE THE BLACK-SKY ALBEDO AND WHITE-SKY ALBEDO AS A FUNCTION OF AEROSOL OPTICAL DEPTH TO PRODUCE AN ACTUAL INSTANTANEOUS ALBEDO AS WOULD BE MEASURED BY TOWER MOUNTED SURFACE ALBEDOMETERS (ROMAN ET AL., 2010). THE BRDF PARAMETERS ARE ALSO IN DEMAND BY OTHER INSTRUMENT TEAMS AS A PRIORI AND EVALUATION INFORMATION ABOUT GLOBAL SURFACE REFLECTIVITY (E.G. MERIS GLOBALBEDO (MUELLER ET AL., 2007), AATSR AEROSOLS (SAYER ET AL., 2012), MSG/SEVIRI ALBEDO (CARRER ET AL., 2010), AVHRR ALBEDO (SILTTERLIN ET AL., 2015), LANDSAT ALBEDO (SHUAI ET AL., 2011; WANG ET AL., 2016; ROY ET AL., 2016)). ONE IMPORTANT GOAL OF GEO-CAPE MISSION IS TO CHARACTERIZE AND UNDERSTAND THE DIURNAL VARIABILITY OF OCEAN PHYTOPLANKTON FROM MEASURED REMOTE SENSING REFLECTANCE (RRS). AS A BIDIRECTIONAL PROPERTY, RRS IS HIGHLY DEPENDENT ON THE SCATTERING PHASE FUNCTIONS (SPF) OF PURE SEAWATER AND PARTICLES. THE UNDERSTANDING, AND THEN CORRECTION, OF THE BIDIRECTIONAL REFLECTANCE DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION (BRDF) IS THUS EXTREMELY CRITICAL FOR SEPARATING THE DIURNAL VARIATIONS OF BIOGEOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS FROM THE ANGULAR DEPENDENCE OF RRS. IN OCEAN COLOR REMOTE SENSING, A KEY LIMITATION IS THAT THE SPF(S) OF PARTICLES IS UNKNOWN, CONSEQUENTLY A SIMPLIFIED (AVERAGE) SPF OF PARTICLES HAS BEEN USED. BUT NOW WITH EXTENSIVE MEASUREMENTS IN THE FIELD, IT IS RECOGNIZED THAT THE SPF SHAPES ACTUALLY VARY WIDELY FROM PLACE TO PLACE. THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT LACK OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE UNCERTAINTY OF BRDF CORRECTIONS OF RRS DUE TO THE VARIATIONS OF SPF S, AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE UNCERTAINTY OF OTHER OCEAN COLOR PRODUCTS. IT IS THUS URGENT TO CHARACTERIZE, AND THEN TO REMEDY IF SIGNIFICANT, THIS SENSITIVITY TO VARYING SPF. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: WE PROPOSE TO INVESTIGATE THE SENSITIVITY OF BRDF CORRECTIONS OF RRS TO THE PARTICLE PHASE FUNCTIONS, TO GAIN A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF UNCERTAINTY OF BRDF CORRECTIONS, AND TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE REQUIREMENTS FOR CAPTURING THE TEMPORAL VARIATION OF OCEAN COLOR FROM GEO-SATELLITES. TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL, WE WILL ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING THREE PROBLEMS: SENSITIVITY OF BRDF TO THE PARTICLE SCATTERING PHASE FUNCTIONS; HOW SUCH SENSITIVITY VARIES WITH WAVELENGTHS, ILLUMINATION AND VIEWING GEOMETRY? HOW SUCH SENSITIVITY AND UNCERTAINTY VARY WITH WATER TYPES? APPROACH: THIS PROJECT WILL BE IMPLEMENTED THROUGH EXTENSIVE NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS USING AN ATMOSPHERE-OCEAN COUPLED RADIATIVE TRANSFER SIMULATION SYSTEM. THE DATA SOURCE INCLUDES (1) ABSORPTION AND SCATTERING COEFFICIENTS MEASURED FROM KORUS-OC AND GOMEX CRUISES; (2) PARTICLE SCATTERING PHASE FUNCTIONS MEASURED IN KOREAN COASTS (KORUS-OC), US COASTS AND OTHER REGIONS (A TOTAL ABOUT 150 VARYING SPFS). RELEVANCE AND SIGNIFICANCE: IT IS HARDLY POSSIBLE TO PREDETERMINE THE SCATTERING PHASE FUNCTIONS OF OCEANS, WHILE ITS KNOWLEDGE IS INDISPENSIBLE FOR ACCURATE BRDF CORRECTIONS. BASED ON A WIDE RANGE OF SCATTERING PHASE FUNCTION MEASUREMENTS, THE PROPOSED STUDY IS EXPECTED TO LEAD TO A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE MECHANISMS OF BRDF VARIATION AND THE SENSITIVITY OF BRDF CORRECTIONS TO THE PHASE FUNCTIONS. IN NORTHERN HIGH LATITUDE REGIONS, THE ALBEDO OF SNOW COVERED VEGETATION, EVEN DECIDUOUS FORESTS THAT ARE LEAFLESS IN WINTER, IS QUITE HIGH (BRIGHT), WHILE THE ALBEDO OF BOREAL EVERGREEN CONIFERS CAN EITHER BE QUITE LOW (DARK) (EVEN WITH EXTENSIVE SNOW LYING UNDER THE CANOPY) OR RATHER BRIGHT DEPENDING ON THE STRUCTURE AND DENSITY OF THE CANOPY. AS A RESULT, SURFACE ALBEDO IS AN ESSENTIAL VARIABLE FOR WEATHER, CLIMATE, HYDROLOGIC AND BIOGEOCHEMICAL MODELING, PARTICULARLY IN SEASONALLY SNOW COVERED REGIONS. HOWEVER, SURFACE ALBEDO, AN INTRINSIC QUALITY OF THE EARTH S SURFACE, VARIES BOTH TEMPORALLY AND SPATIALLY AS A FUNCTION OF SURFACE TYPE, SURFACE STRUCTURE/COVER, AND ECOSYSTEM DYNAMICS, WITH DRAMATIC AND RAPID ALTERATIONS OCCURRING IN RESPONSE TO SEASONAL SNOW FALL AND MELT, WATER FLUCTUATIONS AND FLOODING, AND VEGETATION PHENOLOGY, AS WELL AS NATURAL DISTURBANCES SUCH AS STORM DAMAGE, WILDFIRES AND INSECT INFESTATION, AND LAND USE SUCH AS AGRICULTURE, GRAZING, FORESTRY, AND URBAN EXPANSION. THESE CHANGES MAY BE QUITE HETEROGENEOUS IN EXTENT, YET CONTRIBUTE GREATLY TO THE LOCAL SURFACE ENERGY BUDGET AND ECOSYSTEM PRODUCTIVITY. SUCH GLOBAL VARIABILITY CAN ONLY BE CAPTURED WITH FREQUENT AND DETAILED REMOTE SENSING ACQUISITIONS, YET NO SINGLE CURRENT SPACE-BASED SENSOR PROVIDES BOTH THE TEMPORAL AND SPATIAL RESOLUTION REQUIRED. CLOUD-FREE, NEAR-NADIR IMAGERY, SUCH AS FROM THE LANDSAT-8 OPERATIONAL LAND IMAGER (OLI) AND THE SENTINEL-2A/ B MULTI-SPECTRAL IMAGERS (MSI), PROVIDES EXCELLENT INFORMATION ON THE SURFACE HETEROGENEITY AND VEGETATION STATUS OVER LAND, AND IN COMBINATION, OFFER A GREATLY IMPROVED TEMPORAL RESOLUTION (ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER LATITUDES). HOWEVER, NEAR-NADIR DIRECTIONAL SURFACE REFLECTANCE MEASUREMENTS ARE NOT A SATISFACTORY PROXY FOR ALBEDO, OFTEN MISREPRESENTING LAND ALBEDO VALUES BY SIGNIFICANT PERCENTAGES; ADDITIONAL MULTI-ANGLE REFLECTANCE INFORMATION IS REQUIRED TO ACCURATELY CAPTURE THE FULL EFFECTS OF SURFACE REFLECTANCE ANISOTROPY AND TO PRODUCE REALISTIC BIHEMISPHERICAL ALBEDO QUANTITIES. THEREFORE, DAILY ESTIMATES OF SURFACE ANISOTROPY FROM MULTI-ANGLE OBSERVATIONS ACQUIRED BY WIDE-SWATH SENSORS, SUCH AS THE MODERATE-RESOLUTION IMAGING SPECTRORADIOMETER (MODIS) OR THE VISIBLE INFRARED IMAGING RADIOMETER SUITE (VIIRS), CAN BE COUPLED WITH THE HIGH QUALITY NEAR-NADIR REFLECTANCE IMAGES OF HIGHER RESOLUTION, AS PRODUCED BY LANDSAT 8 AND SENTINEL-2A/B, TO PRODUCE IMPROVED TEMPORAL AND SPATIAL RESOLUTION ESTIMATES OF THE TRUE LAND SURFACE ALBEDO, PARTICULARLY IN RESPONSE TO SEASONAL VARIATION, SNOW COVER, AND ECOSYSTEM DISTURBANCE. THE IMPROVED COMBINED FREQUENCY OF ACQUISITION AT HIGHER LATITUDES, AND THE HIGH RADIOMETRIC FIDELITY OFFERED BY LANDSAT-8 AND SENTINEL-2A/B, (WHICH GREATLY EXCEEDS THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE EARLIER LANDSAT SENSORS) OFFER A MUCH-IMPROVED ABILITY TO QUANTIFY THE ALBEDO EFFECTS OF SNOW COVERED LAND SURFACES. OUR TEAM HAS CONSIDERABLE EXPERIENCE IN DEALING WITH MODIS, VIIRS, LANDSAT, AND NOW SENTINEL 2 DATA (AMONG OTHER SATELLITE IMAGERS), AS WELL AS FAMILIARITY WITH THE HARMONIZED LANDSAT- SENTINEL-2 (HLS) DATASET CURRENTLY BEING PREPARED BY THE MUSLI TEAM. THEREFORE WE ARE UNIQUELY QUALIFIED TO ADDRESS THE DIFFERENCES IN SPATIAL, ANGULAR, SPECTRAL, AND TEMPORAL RESOLUTION INHERENT IN THIS MULTISOURCE EFFORT. GIANT KELP, MACROCYSTIS PYRIFERA, IS A GLOBALLY DISTRIBUTED FOUNDATION SPECIES THAT SUPPORTS SOME OF THE MOST PRODUCTIVE COASTAL ECOSYSTEMS IN THE WORLD. HOWEVER, GIANT KELP IS SENSITIVE TO CHANGES IN ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS; WE DO NOT KNOW HOW ITS GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION AND ABUNDANCE HAS CHANGED IN THE MODERN ERA. CHARACTERIZING CHANGE IN KELPS AT EVEN REGIONAL SCALES IS IMPRACTICAL VIA FIELD SAMPLING. LUCKILY, INCREASES IN THE AVAILABILITY OF LONG TERM GLOBAL SATELLITE IMAGERY HAS MADE IT POSSIBLE TO OBSERVE KELP FORESTS AT LARGE SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL SCALES VIA LANDSAT. HOWEVER, THE PROCESS OF CREATING MAPS OF KELP CANOPY FROM SATELLITE IMAGERY HAS DEFIED AUTOMATION, REQUIRING TIME-CONSUMING MANUAL ANALYSIS. HERE WE PROPOSE TO EXPAND THE GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE OF A CITIZEN SCIENCE PLATFORM USING LANDSAT DATA (HTTP://FLOATINGFORESTS.ORG) TO EXAMINE CHANGE IN GIANT KELP ABUNDANCE OVER TIME AND ASK FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS ABOUT CLIMATE IMPACTS ON GLOBAL KELP PRODUCTIVITY. THIS PROJECT WILL DEVELOP A GENERALIZED TOOL IN COLLABORATION WITH ZOONIVERSE TO BUILD ONLINE CITIZEN SCIENCE PROJECTS USING LANDSAT IMAGERY. WE ARE NOW READY TO MOVE FROM SMALL REGIONAL DATASETS TO MAP THE PLANET ALONGSIDE OUR CITIZEN SCIENTISTS AND ANSWER FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF GLOBAL CHANGE ON GIANT KELP AT AN UNPRECEDENTED SCALE.
