| THIS REQUIREMENT IS FOR THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF A NOVEL COMPACT SPACE WEATHER INSTRUMENTATION AND MEASUREMENTS (NEAT-SWIM). SPACE DYNAMICS LABORATORY (SDL) PROPOSES TO SUPPORT NASA GODDARD SPACE FLIGHT CENTER (GSFC) RESEARCHERS IN THEIR ONGOING EFFORTS TO DEVELOP NOVEL, COMPACT SPACE WEATHER INSTRUMENTATION. CURRENT TECHNOLOGIES OF INTEREST AIM TO PROVIDE ACCURATE IN SITU MEASUREMENTS OF THERMOSPHERIC AND IONOSPHERIC PARAMETERS BY ENERGY ANALYSIS, WHILE MINIMIZING DEMANDS ON SPACECRAFT RESOURCES. THE PRIMARY GOAL OF THIS COLLABORATIVE WORK IS TO ADVANCE THE TRL OF RELEVANT SENSORS, COMPONENTS, AND SUBASSEMBLIES TO ALLOW RAPID AND CREDIBLE RESPONSE TO ANNOUNCEMENTS OF SPACE WEATHER MISSION OPPORTUNITIES. TO THIS END, SDL WILL ASSIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT, CHARACTERIZATION, TEST, AND CALIBRATION OF A VARIETY OF ENABLING SENSOR TECHNOLOGIES. SDL WILL PERFORM FULL-FOV LABORATORY CALIBRATION OF THE ANDE FLIGHT SPARE WIND AND TEMPERATURE SPECTROMETER (WATS) IN ITS ION OPTICS TEST FACILITY. THE EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION WILL PROVIDE A DETAILED COMPARISON OF CURRENT ION OPTICS SIMULATION PREDICTIONS WITH EXPECTED THERMOSPHERIC MEASUREMENT PERFORMANCE. SDL WILL COLLABORATE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROMISING TECHNOLOGIES, AND CHARACTERIZE ENERGY ANALYZER DESIGN CANDIDATES THROUGH THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL WORK.
