Description
The purpose of this study is to provide a longitudinal data set of administratively confirmed SNAP households to track changes in diet; food purchases; household, social, and economic characteristics; and experiences interacting with various aspects of SNAP. This study will provide basic epidemiological surveillance over time and within the same households, which is important for causal inference and answering questions related to how policy, social, and economic factors affect SNAP households. Finally, it provides FNS with a timely and comprehensive data source on SNAP participants for program monitoring and to inform policy, which is prudent given SNAP is one of the nation’s largest safety-net programs.
