"As an IT Specialist (Chief Data Officer), you will: Maintain continuous surveillance over all data system performance areas and ensures that applicable schedule/performance parameters are identified, communicated and implemented. Coordinate, disseminate, and interpret data management directives, policies and regulations. Manage open government data effort including coordinating how we offer APIs and create public data products. Actively work with technologists, innovators, the private sector, academia and other stakeholders to promote economic growth through the development of tools powered by open data. Develop and continually update a comprehensive data and information product portfolio strategy for NHTSA, coordinating with appropriate NHTSA components as necessary. Serve as data product lead to drive innovation and continually improve the suite of NHTSA data products. Serve as a single point of accountability and coordination across the agency to ensure consistency and efficient implementation of policies related to data collection, storage, access, release and dissemination. Develop and implement a data services strategy to maximize use of NHTSA data for internal users, including data warehouses, data sets (e.g. MAX data), business intelligence tools, utilizing DOT shared services offerings whenever possible and practical.
