Notice ID: DOT-OST Description Objective: The objective is to establish and maintain a continuous, national-scale data collection and cloud-based database archive of unimputed heavy-duty freight truck1 vehicle trajectory data points—alongside a set of tools that operationalize state-of-the-art, literature-based algorithms and statistical methodologies for converting trajectory data points into meaningful, transportation-oriented statistical outputs—for use as a comprehensive set of transportation statistics on the performance and impacts of the United States’ national transportation system and for federal analysis projects related to transportation. The government may optionally expand this objective to include all freight trucks, including all medium-duty and some light-duty trucks. SCOPE The Contractor shall complete these requirements under four (4) main tasks as described below: Under Task 1, the Contractor shall develop and implement project management and work plans Under Task 2, the Contractor shall provide BTS (a) access to a continuous trajectory data collection from freight truck vehicle probes that shall be archived into a database at BTS and (b) provide technical support for the data Under Task 3, the Contractor shall develop and carry out regular data validation, calibration quality plans and develop descriptive metadata documents Under Task 4, the Contractor shall construct a series of data analysis and visualization tools so users can quickly, intuitively, reliably, and efficiently extract meaningful outputs (e.g., stop locations, stop types/classifications, trip and tour detection, origins/destinations, dwells, etc.) based on the underlying trajectory database The contract includes three (3) additional optional tasks: Under Optional Task 5, the Contractor shall provide continuous trajectory data collection from FHWA Class 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 trucks (i.e., all medium-duty and some light-duty trucks) Under Optional Task 6, the Contractor shall provide support for ad hoc data analyses Under Optional Task 7, the Contractor shall provide access to archived, historic freight truck vehicle trajectory data Read more here.
