The Director of CCTE's Scientific Computing and Data Curation Division (SCDCD) will oversee the development the information architecture necessary for integrating, transforming, and managing large scale data streams related to assessing the risk of chemicals and ecological integrity. The Director oversees the development and management of software applications and decision support workflows that visualize, analyze, and integrate complex data sources related to chemical safety and freshwater ecology. The Director also oversees the extraction, curation, and quality control of chemical and ecological data from structured and unstructured sources for use in Center research. Finally, the Director works closely with ORD’s Office of Science and Information Management (OSIM) on the implementation and deployment of software applications and tools for internal and external stakeholder utilization.Specific duties of this position include: As Division Director, providing professional, scientific, and technical leadership and direction to develop the knowledge and information architecture and associated ontologies necessary for integrating, transforming, and managing large scale data streams related to chemistry, toxicology, toxicokinetics, exposure sciences, ecotoxicology, and freshwater integrity data. Assessing organizational needs, developing program plans, and establishing overall Division operating policies, priorities, and procedures to develop long- and short-term plans and projects, as well as allocating the necessary resources. Providing or directing the provision of expert technical/scientific advice and assistance to representatives of municipal, State, Federal and international organizations, other Agency elements, and the private sector regarding environmental quality control actions, plans, and programs. Developing and maintaining close working relationships with universities, private research organizations, and other governmental research laboratories which are concerned with the Division's programs and research efforts. Reviewing and approving for publication or other issuance all reports, publications, speeches, or other outputs of the Division, assuring the scientific/technical quality of the information being released and the detection and proper review, coordination, and approval of any policy-sensitive information contained in such materials. Ensuring that extramural resources are efficiently and appropriately managed to maximize the use of the Agency’s resources.
