The FAA has issued an RFI to gain a better understanding of best practices and benefits associated with how the configuration, delivery, and management of specific security capabilities differs between Government-owned, Contractor-owned, Government-operated, and Contractor-operated business models. This is being released in conjunction with the FAA’s market research related to the FAA’s Enterprise Network Service (FENS) program.
FAA is interested in learning how the migration from predominately deterministic infrastructure solutions (such as time division multiplexing) to shared-use services such as commercial multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) networks, Cloud-based technology (both public and private), wireless communications, and emerging carrier-based Wide Area Network (WAN) services will affect the security architecture, the underlying management challenges associated with such an architecture, and the tools associated with supporting both.
