Solicitation: ACQ-20-0715 Contract Award Number: GS-35F-0739M Task/Delivery Order Number: DOC44PAPT1409026 Modification Number: P20033 “The USPTO intends to negotiate and award a modification to ViON Corporation, under task order #DOC44PAPT1409026. The total anticipated value of the change is $88,000,000.00, which includes the addition of three (3) one-year option periods. The proposed $88,000,000.00 ceiling increase is based on calculations of the annual storage requirements of $22,000,000.00 per year during the three-year extension period, plus $22,000,000.00 for existing Option Period 6, which has not yet been exercised. Resulting from the modification, the total task order value will be increased from $165,790,190.60 by $88,000,000.00 to $253,790,190.60, an approximate 53% increase. The final PoP expiration date will be changed from 11/30/2021 to 11/30/2024.” “The purpose of the SIMS task order is to provide USPTO with support in the areas of ownership, design, support, and maintenance of the USPTO’s storage infrastructures, located in Alexandria, VA and Boyers, PA. The SIMS infrastructure is wholly owned and operated by ViON Corporation. Since this task order was awarded in 2014, ViON Corporation has supported USPTO’s growing storage requirements, establishing and managing a complex infrastructure, which consists of many critical components and processes integral to USPTO storage success. The USPTO is committed to planning for a future competitive storage procurement. However, until USPTO’s future storage strategy is defined, a re-compete of this task order would be premature and would result in major financial and technical risks to the agency. The current plan to extend this task order presents the only alternative that can mitigate the financial and technical risks to USPTO. If USPTO’s storage strategy is defined prior to the proposed extension period, the agency reserves the right to not exercise any of the newly contemplated option periods and proceed planning for a competitive procurement.” Read more here.
