The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) is conducting market research under solicitation number N4523A26Q0808 to identify commercial sources capable of restoring the Induction Mast Standpipe for the USS Kentucky (SSBN 737). This requirement, supporting the vessel’s Extended Refit Period at the Trident Refit Facility in Bangor, Washington, involves thermal spray surface deposition to repair wear and corrosion on the standpipe’s outer surface. Because internal Navy shipyards currently lack the necessary capacity, the government requires a commercial entity with facilities and deposition processes specifically certified by NAVSEA to perform these repairs.
This opportunity is classified under NAICS 332812 Metal Coating, Engraving (except Jewelry and Silverware), and Allied Services to Manufacturers and PSC J020 MAINT/REPAIR/REBUILD OF EQUIPMENT- SHIP AND MARINE EQUIPMENT. The work is located in Bremerton, Washington, with an estimated period of performance scheduled from May 1, 2026, through July 31, 2026. A draft Statement of Work was issued as a single attachment on April 17, 2026, to assist industry partners in evaluating the technical requirements.
Interested companies must submit a response by April 22, 2026, to Katherine Lauer. Submissions are limited to five pages and must include a description of the company’s technical skills, NAVSEA certification status, and a performance record of similar work conducted within the last three years.
