Continuity Contract

The General Services Administration (GSA), Federal Acquisition Service, intends to negotiate a sole-source continuity contract with Verizon Business for the continued performance of Federal Telecommunications System 2001 (FTS2001) long-distance services. This interim bridge contract is authorized under FAR 6.302-7, the Public Interest exception to full-and-open competition, to prevent service degradation and mission disruption while agencies complete the transition to the Networx Program. The proposed performance period consists of a six-month base period beginning July 1, 2011, and ending December 31, 2011, with one six-month option.

The estimated value for this requirement is $167,000,000, with services performed in Fairfax, Virginia. The contract facilitates the time necessary for customer agencies to finish the fair opportunity process and phase out the existing FTS2001 Bridge contract.
