B--GEMSC Lithium & Strontium Isotope Analyses IDIQ

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geology, Energy & Minerals Science Center (GEMSC) has a requirement for lithium and strontium isotope analyses performed on powdered and homogenized rock and mineral, brine, and solution samples. These analytical services support research into the sources of lithium in subsurface brines associated with petroleum reservoirs, provide insights into basinal fluid flow, and enhance the understanding of lithium behavior in surface mineral systems and deposits. This procurement is classified under NAICS 541380 for Testing Laboratories and Services and PSC B517 for Special Studies/Analysis- Geological.

The USGS intends to award a non-competitive Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to the University of Texas at Austin, Department of Geological Sciences, in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). Although the government intends to make a sole-source award, it will consider information received in response to this notice to determine whether a competitive procurement is appropriate. One redacted sole-source justification document was published alongside this notice on June 21, 2024, under solicitation number 140G0124Q0188.

Responses to this pre-solicitation notice must be submitted electronically to Kimberly Schneider by 5:00 PM CT on July 3, 2024. The government does not intend to pay for information received, and the final decision to compete the requirement remains within the discretion of the agency.
