The U.S. Forest Service, Stewardship Contracting Branch, issued this Sources Sought notice under solicitation number 12363N26Q4138 to identify timber operators and fuels contractors capable of performing Integrated Resource Service Contracts (IRSCs). The government seeks capability statements for hazardous fuels reduction and timber harvest across 2,103 acres in the LaCroix Ranger District of the Superior National Forest in Minnesota. The project is divided into four main areas—Can Crusher, Finkus, Pac Man, and Wild—with a total estimated volume of 16,790 MBF. The primary classifications for this requirement are NAICS 113310 Logging and PSC F014 Natural Resources/Conservation- Tree Thinning.
The anticipated scope involves harvesting approximately 16.8 million board feet of low-value timber through clearcut, shelterwood, or commercial thinning. Service work includes temporary road construction and obliteration, slash piling, pre-commercial thinning, and forest system road improvements for erosion control. Additional tasks may comprise manual or mechanical fireline construction, fuel break maintenance, mastication, chipping, and the removal of non-merchantable biomass. While a solicitation is anticipated for spring 2027, all work is expected to be completed by May 2031. One attachment, a PDF titled "2027 LaCroix RD Planned IRSCs," provides further location details.
Responses are due by 8:00 A.M. PDT on June 1, 2026, and must be submitted electronically to Ingrid Anderson and Matt Daigle, the Stewardship Acquisition Program Support Officer. Interested parties are invited to an informational open house on May 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM CT, at the LaCroix Ranger District office in Cook, MN, with options to attend virtually via Microsoft Teams. Capability statements must include company information, relevant experience in northern Minnesota, safety program details, and equipment lists. The government also requests responses to a project questionnaire regarding pricing structures, potential challenges, and experience with designation by prescription.
