The Defense Logistics Agency Strategic Materials Directorate is conducting market research through this Sources Sought notice, identified as RFI-SpecializedLowAlphaTin, to identify potential sources for the acquisition of specialized low alpha tin. The agency is exploring the reprocessing and re-melting of 1,978 metric tons of Long Horn brand tin ingot, currently categorized as Grade A 99.80% with tin-pest, for addition into the National Defense Stockpile. The objective of this potential project is to convert the existing material into specialized low alpha tin with a minimum purity of 99.999% tin, though the exact elemental specifications and final form are currently undetermined.
