Orthostatic Intolerance Garments

NASA/JSC has a requirement for Orthostatic Intolerance Garments. NASA/JSC intends to issue a sole source contract to acquire the orthostatic intolerance garments from BSN Medical Inc., under the authority of FAR 6.302, due to their unique ability to create built-to-print orthostatic intolerance garments. This is a follow-on to a previously awarded research and development contract that was awarded to BSN Medical, Inc. Based on the previously awarded research and development contract, it was determined that BSN Medical Inc. possessed the unique capabilities to produce orthostatic intolerance garments that will protect astronauts from the negative physiological impacts of returning to Earth after multi-day microgravity exposure during the Earth entry (return) phase of mission for the Artemis and Starliner missions The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort electronically via email to Linda Benitez, (Contract Specialist) [email protected] and Carlos Roman (Contracting Officer) [email protected] no later than 5:00 P.M. C.T. on August 3, 2023. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
